Learning the art of programming.
As the schoolboy who couldn't make the second relay team I discovered that simple participation made a massive difference. Then a little later we discovered that actually training, and using a variety of training techniques, could change your biology in ways you couldn't imagine. This image was taken after we implemented plyometric training into our program.
Our little group with John Reidy, David Dunn & Kristen Ankerson Greg Carter would push each other to new heights. In the beginning jumping over belly button height was a big deal. Jumping over your head was this superhuman thing. Start jumping 10cm over your head and you discover a whole new world of WTF!
These were my early lessons in sport. It doesn't matter how bad you are. Find the passion, train smart and don't be afraid to set your sights high. You may not be the best but you may surprise yourself. In reality we were good, but we weren't great.
Years later we would chat to a schoolboy who watched our little group with awe. He wanted to be like us. He went on to jump over 2.20 and place 4th in the World Champs. Sometimes your passion can inspire others in ways you didn't even realise. I guess that made us pretty great. With Wix Blog, you’re not only sharing your voice with the world, you can also grow an active online community.
